This ancient festival, also known as the Moon Festival, has been cherished for centuries, bringing families and friends together to honour the moon, share stories, and enjoy delectable dishes that symbolise reunion, harmony, and prosperity.

To celebrate this festival, we're introducing a brand new set menu, inviting our guests to enjoy the beloved traditional dishes that make this occasion so special.

Why the Mid-Autumn Festival is Exciting

There’s something truly magical about the Mid-Autumn Festival, an annual celebration that captivates hearts and minds with its rich tapestry of history, tradition, and cultural significance. Also known as the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival, this event dates back over 3,000 years to China’s Shang Dynasty, rooted in the ancient practice of moon worship and the celebration of the harvest season. It is traditionally observed when the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest.

As twilight falls and the moon begins to rise, a sense of enchantment fills the air. This is a time when vibrant lanterns in China and other parts of the world light up the night sky, casting a warm, inviting glow over streets, gardens, and homes. These lanterns, often crafted in intricate designs ranging from simple paper globes to elaborate dragon or lotus shapes, are not just beautiful decorations; they are symbols of light, hope, and the wish for a brighter future.

Families gather to appreciate the moon’s beauty, sharing tales and folklore that have been passed down through generations. One of the most famous legends associated with the festival is that of Chang’e, the moon goddess, whose story of love and sacrifice is retold each year, reminding everyone of the enduring bonds of love and family.

Food plays a central role in the Mid-Autumn Festival, with mooncakes being the most iconic treat. These round pastries, often filled with sweet lotus seed paste or red bean, symbolise unity and the feeling of being complete. Sharing mooncakes among family members and friends is a cherished tradition, signifying the sharing of love, good fortune, and blessings. Beyond mooncakes, the festival is marked by feasts that showcase a variety of dishes, from savoury dumplings to sweet fruits, representing the abundance of the harvest season and the sharing of life’s bounty.

At its core, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a vibrant, joyous occasion that reminds us of the importance of unity, togetherness, and gratitude. It is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future with hope and optimism. As families and friends gather to celebrate, the festival’s enduring traditions continue to bring people closer together. We would love nothing more than for you to dine with us this Mid Autumn Festival.
