Where Does The Name Blue Pavilion Come From?

The name Blue Pavilion is actually derived from the Lanting Xu (兰亭叙) which is a piece of calligraphy, written by well known calligrapher Wang Xizhi. It has been described as the most beautiful semi-cursive script calligraphy ever written in Chinese History and depicts the gathering of 42 well known literati performing the Spring Purification Festival. 

During the gathering, they composed poems whilst engaging in a wine-drinking contest and it was such a joyous event with 37 poems composed on the day. We wanted to create an environment where friends and loved ones could gather and come together to celebrate life’s big and small moments, with or without a glass or two of wine.

Where Is Blue Pavilion Restaurant Located?

Situated in the heart of Leeds, the Blue Pavilion restaurant is within the Merrion Centre and there’s plenty of parking nearby for customers. We’d recommend the Merrion centre’s own car park for ease of access and the short distance to walk to the restaurant and back to your car afterwards.

We wanted to create an environment that provided friends and family with a relaxing space where they can come together to share life’s moments, both big and small.

Each and every dish is crafted with traditional techniques and genuine Chinese ingredients, providing a taste sensation that’s delicious and authentic. Our set menus offer a carefully curated experience that brings together different tastes and textures that perfectly complement one another, whilst our seasonal specials ensure our menu is ever evolving, constantly providing fresh flavours to our customers. We also work with local farmers and suppliers to provide you with the freshest, high quality ingredients and support our local community.

However if you are traveling via train or bus, we’re only a 12 minute walk from both Leeds train and bus stations, whilst some bus routes will bring you even closer to the restaurant too.
